Git in KODEO
Commit, stage, branch, merge and resolve conflicts inside KODEO — no GitHub account needed — and the terminal's real git.
Every project has a real Git repository, kept by KODEO on its servers — it works on every device, including phones, and needs no GitHub account.
Source Control
Open Source Control (Alt + G). You'll see what changed since the last commit.
- Stage changes (Space on a change), write a message and Commit (Ctrl/⌘ + Enter). Staging is per person, so teammates don't commit each other's half-finished work.
- Everyone editing live is added as a co-author automatically.
- Before committing, KODEO checks for things that look like secrets (API keys, private keys) and asks first.
Branches
Branches belong to the whole project: switching moves everyone in it to that branch. Changes you haven't committed are parked and come back when you return to the branch.
Merging and conflicts
Merge a branch from Source Control. If both sides changed the same lines, the conflicts open in the editor with Accept current / incoming / both above each one. Resolve them, then commit.
History
The log, blame, diffs and change bars in the gutter show who changed what and when. You can also stash, tag and restore files.
The terminal's git
git status, git commit -m "…", git log, git branch and friends work in any terminal — they run against the same repository.
Repository size is part of your storage — Free 50 MB, Pro 500 MB, Team 250 MB per seat per project.
