Share an app from your computer (kodeo share, VS Code)
Give an app running on your own computer a KODEO preview link with kodeo share or VS Code's Share Port — the same access rules, viewers and request log as the browser editor.
An app doesn't have to run in KODEO to be shared. If it runs on your computer — a dev server, an API — share it through the same preview server.
From the terminal
kodeo share 3000Run it inside a linked folder (or add --project <workspace>/<project>). You get a link — and a QR code to scan with your phone — and every request is printed as it arrives, with who sent it. Ctrl+C stops sharing and ends the link.
| Option | |
|---|---|
--team | Workspace members only (the default) |
--link | Anyone signed in to KODEO |
--public | Anyone with the link (they see a notice first) |
--password <pw> | Anyone with the link and the password |
--webhook [path] | A webhook URL that answers only under that path |
--expires 24h | How long it lasts (15m to 7d, within your plan) |
--keep | Leave the link when you stop (paused until you share again) |
kodeo preview lists everything shared in the project; kodeo preview open <id> opens a teammate's app in your browser; kodeo preview stop <id> and kodeo preview qr <id> work on yours. The dashboard (kodeo ui) shows live previews too.
From VS Code
KODEO: Share Port with KODEO… (desktop VS Code) asks for the port, who can open it and for how long, and puts the link on your clipboard. The status bar shows who's watching; requests go to the KODEO Preview output. The Previews view in the KODEO side bar lists everything shared in the project — open a teammate's app in your browser or beside your code.
Safe by design
It only ever connects to your own computer — 127.0.0.1 (or ::1) on the port you named. No other address is reached and no redirect is followed, so nobody opening your link can use it to get into the rest of your network.
Sharing from a computer comes with Pro and Team; a Team workspace can turn it off in Workspace settings → Previews.
