Watching a teammate's terminal in VS Code
When a teammate shares a terminal from KODEO's browser editor, you can watch it live in a VS Code terminal — read-only — and ask for the keyboard.
KODEO runs code in the browser (the shared, metered runtime). When a teammate shares one of their terminals with the room, you can watch it from VS Code.
Watch one
- Project Tools → Terminals in the KODEO side bar lists what's shared (and who's watching). Click one.
- Or run KODEO: Watch a Teammate's Terminal… and pick it.
It opens as a VS Code terminal named after the person and the terminal. You see their screen as it is now, then everything it prints. Close the terminal to stop watching — the owner stops sending output nobody watches.
Ask for the keyboard
The terminal is read-only. Press Enter in it to ask the owner for the keyboard; they're asked in their browser and can say yes or no — either way you're told.
If they hand it over, the terminal says so (and until when). What you type goes to their runtime — checked by the collaboration server and again in their browser on every keystroke — until the grant lapses or they take it back. Only teammates with editing rights can be given control.
Who's running what
While someone runs the project, the status bar shows them (and the port, once one is open), and so does Project → Running. Clicking either opens the project's Run panel in the browser, where the output and the preview are. Previews of a teammate's app on your own device are coming with project previews.
Nothing a terminal prints is stored — the room holds it in memory only while someone watches, and it's redacted in the owner's browser before it leaves.
